Prom

I remember at the beginning of the year, i envisioned myself to don a really pretty frock that had a sweetheart neckline. And my hair was in very subtle waves and everything was perfect!

Let me tell you about prom.

This year i got my hopes up thinking that there was NO possible way that prom wont happen. This year's cohort was really happening and quite the enthusiastic bunch of teenagers. I figured that payment wasnt going to be a problem and that everything was definitely going to be smooth.

Towards the start of our O levels i started to sense that prom was not going to happen since there was no announcement about it and that no teacher talked about it so i kind of prepared myself for the worst which was not being able to experience prom at 16. It was on our science practical day that they chose to deliver the announcement that prom was to happen only if a minimum of 150 people signed up, with $55 ready to be paid.

Personally i thought it was stupid of them to tell us during our o levels but i was all up for it! I wanted to pay asap.

But shitty things happened like people refused to pay and everyone was unwilling and uninterested to think about prom so then i found out only 80 people paid up which SUCKED because at this point i think everyone was just being ridiculous and uncommitted snobs.

FIRST you complain that the school is too budget, too loser, too lame for not making prom happen. THEN when prom actually does happen, you back out and complain the school for announcing the payment details too late. Like are you crazy? What the hell do you want from the school? You think prom is an all-expense paid trip? Err clearly not dumbo of course you have to fork out some money right no money will drop from the sky if you want to attend prom just freaking pay if you dont want then dont pay la its not rocket science.

SECONDLY when everyone finds out prom is cancelled, everyone's like BUDGET BV BV IS A CHEAPO IRRESPONSIBLE BLAHBLAHBLAH. From what i know, you dont call anyone budget for taking the damn initiative to write proposals to the principal and make reservations at the venue just so we could all experience prom. Is that being budget? No its not. YOU, the one who doesnt take initiative to pay is the budget one. You have budget written all over your face. Your level of irresponsibilty is written all over your face. You blame the school just because they told you about the payment details late. You blame the school for not being responsible enough to rally students and get them to pay for prom. So ridiculous. You shouldnt do things like that okay. Why blame the school when you're the one who didnt think about such unfortunate consequences... like really not making prom happen at all....like really not being lucky enough to experience prom at all?

Its pretty self-explanatory. I dont really have much to say because i think everyone knows about this and how it led to this kind of circumstances. Im just still so bitter about the fact that i was wrong, how i was so sure prom was going to happen this year.

And in the end, i see every other school getting worked up over their dresses and shoes and makeup and hair and im here just watching the walking dead all over again.

I know what im gonna say may be totally selfish and inconsiderate.

I wont lie about it though but honestly, im blaming everyone i could now.

They say if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say anything at all.

But then again, im really not so good with keeping my mouth shut.
